You’ll find me happiest in the mountains.
This is me, taking a break from running the Alta Via 2 Dolomites High Traverse, Italy, 2019.
As an athlete, I’ve competed in Ironman triathlon, qualified as a ski instructor, cycled Land’s End to John O’Groats, and competed in over 80 ultra-marathons around the world, in races and challenges such as UTMB and the Bob Graham Round. 2020 and 2021 were a bit quiet, for obvious reasons, but in 2019 I won both the Preseli Beast Ultra and Peak District 50 Mile Ultra. I also competed in the London Marathon, in a time of 2:47 (age 44). Last year (summer 2022), I competed in Ultra Tour Snowdonia and the UTMB TDS, in addition to crewing duties for elite ultra runners on races such as Tor Des Geants. This year (2023) I will be competing in the 180-mile Northern Traverse in April, and Laveredo Trail in June.
23 years as a Senior University Lecturer and Researcher has provided me with the skills to take complex science and data and present them in a way that athletes can understand; allowing for personal growth, confidence, and behavior change through the development of knowledge and experience.
I’m passionate about sports nutrition and dietary strategies that support health and improve performance. Feel free to contact me with any questions, or just for a chat about your sport. It would be great to hear more about you.
Paul.
